"The heart can be torn
and it can be mended again. It could be broken and could
be made whole again. It can rise and it can fall and it
can fall and it can rise; and after rising it can fall
again instantly. There is one heart that can creep. There
is another heart that can walk. There is another heart
that can run. Another heart that can fly. Yet, we cannot
limit its action. If we are to call the heart a hot
glowing fire we can see the different aspects of love in
the form of the heart; sympathy in the form of flame; as
passion in the form of smoke which blinds one's eyes. If
we were to look at what gives us strength to stand strong
in the battlefield, to endure all that may come, that
which gives us power to have patience, what is it? It is
the heart. If the heart fails, one fails. If the heart
rises, one rises. When the heart is directed at one
object, one purpose, one romance, then it is strengthened.
But when the heart goes from one object to another, one
religion to another, one movement, one organization, one
love, then, the fire element dies. The heart dies." |
