NEW FIGHTING STYLE
Max Baer, pictured punching the bag as part of a day's activities at his
training camp, Speculator, N.Y., where his is preparing for his encounter
with Joe Louis, the brown bomber, scheduled for September 24th. Max is
being coached by his trainers to adopt the famous Jeffries stance, which,
they believe peculiarly suited to combat Louis' own ring tactics.

Soon after losing his heavyweight title to Jimmy Braddock, Baer fought the
up-and-coming Joe Louis. It was a one-sided contest that ended in the
fourth round and it placed Louis in line for a world championship
challenge.
