A beautiful vintage press photo showing future middleweight champion Harry Greb exiting a vehicle as he arrives in New York... Greb is heading to Philadelphia Jack O'Brien's Gym where he will train for an upcoming bout (Mike Gibbons is listed as Greb's future opponent on the caption but he would actually fight his brother Tommy Gibbons on March 13) ...   Any man who meets Greb has to face speed--plus. He is not only remarkably fast on his feet, but a streak of lightning with either hand. He can hit a man oftener from more different directions than any man that ever lived. I have seen him when almost completely off balance hit a good boxer three times before a return was made.

When Greb is fighting you have the impression that the arc-lighted air of the ring is full of boxing gloves, boxing gloves thrown from thirty or forty directions in fusillades, salvos, volleys. He comes upon an opponent like a swarm of bees.

Like most of those who depend upon unusual speed, Greb is not a hard puncher. He can hit when he get's set, but he rarely takes out enough time to get set. A tornado has no resting spot.

When a man with little or no attempt at training can fight 400 battles at bewildering speed for thirteen years he has to be something far beyond any ordinary mold. And that is what Harry Greb is--an unusual human being in physical make-up without a counterpart in sport.
