An oversized vintage photo of the Louis-Conn rematch measuring 16x23"... Obtained from an old tavern owner who had it hanging in his establishment for many years... Vintage, old image is printed on thin cardboard stock... Depicts Joe Louis unleashing a lethal blow which sends Conn to the canvas as referee Eddie Joseph darts out of the way... Conn would be counted out in this, the eighth round, as a result of this barrage... Former lightweight champ Benny Leonard can be seen at ringside between referee Joseph's legs to the right... A nice blue fountain pen ink signature of Joe Louis dated 2/23/48... A blue ink Billy Conn autograph... A full unused ticket to this fight... Quality matted & framed together... Photo has very good clarity for size... Attractive in person and very rare!!

measures: 27.25 x 31.25"
condition: excellent

Nothing Like The First Time Around
Out of the Army after four years, Louis renewed his argument with Conn at Yankee Stadium on June 19, 1946. Conn also had put in four years of Army service, but hadn't retained as much of his former skill as had Louis. Joe had an easy time of it in the return bout; Conn offered feeble resistance and was knocked out in the eighth round of a slow, disappointing affair.
