This vintage press photo shows future heavyweight champion Joe Louis arriving in Chicago in late June/early August, 1935 after just knocking out former champ Primo Carnera the week prior... Louis, accompanied by his manager John Roxborough, is here to negotiate a fight with fellow contender King Levinsky, a bout which would indeed take place in Chicago on August 7 ... The American Airlines plane on which Louis & Roxborough arrived can be seen in the background... A fabulous image depicting a 21yr. old Louis in his finest attire!!
