Born: Rocco Francis
Marchegiano
Heavyweight Champion 1952-56
Rocky Marciano fought 49 times as a professional and never lost once.
To date, he is the only heavyweight champion of the world to retire
undefeated. Easy-going and gentle outside the ring, Marciano could be a
hellish opponent. He offered a stolid resistance to whatever came his way,
and the blockbuster punches that made him famous were some of the most
dangerous ever thrown.
