Sugar Ray Robinson
vs.
Jan de Bruin
June 10, 1951

A vintage original on-site poster for Sugar Ray Robinson's fight against Jan de Bruin on June 10, 1951... After winning the middleweight title earlier the same year from Jake LaMotta, Robinson would embark on a European tour... Jan de Bruin would be Robinson's third opponent in as many weeks and he would eventually go on to fight six fights in a six week period... His European tour would end with him losing the title in an upset loss to Randolph Turpin on July 10, 1951 in London... Very colorful and one of the most attractive Robinson posters I've come across!!

measures: 28.5 x 43"
condition: some very fine fold marks and a few 1/8" tears along outer
edge confined to white border
actually remarkable condition considering size and age

Robinson was declared the winner by technical knockout when "Jan de Bruin took a walk from the ring in the eighth round. The Dutchman said he left the ring because Robinson apparently didn't put forth his best efforts when he had his opponent cornered in the sixth and seventh rounds."
