MIKE TYSON'S 18th PRO FIGHT
As Mike Tyson's reputation grew, so did
the size of venues for his fights.

|
The RPI Field House has a seating capacity of
about 7,500 for a fight, nearly 3 times bigger than most of Tyson's previous
fight sites. The facility, which is part of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
College, is primarily used as a hockey arena for the schools hockey team. The
building was actually a huge Navy warehouse at one time and was moved from Davisville, Rhode Island to Troy, New York during World War II. Its official
opening was October 13, 1949.

This is an original on-site poster to the Mike Tyson-Jesse Ferguson and Mike Weaver-Carl Williams double bill... The fight took place at the RPI Field House in Troy, N.Y. on February 16, 1986... This would be Tyson's first major network appearance on ABC's Wide World Of Sports... The poster is signed boldly in black sharpie marker by Mike Tyson and Carl "The Truth" Williams... Both signatures were obtained by me; Tyson's in front of a court house in Albany, N.Y. on 9/25/96 during Kevin Rooney's "verbal contract" lawsuit and Williams' at the IBHOF induction weekend one of these past few years... Both signatures are flawless and very rare on an early Tyson poster!! measures: 22 x 28"
