My right name is Edward Patrick Walker. I started out to be an architect. Since I was born with the pug nose, I think they hung the Mickey on me. One of the great writers in New York, name of Francis Albertini, sports editor for the Mail and one of the most popular fellows around New York, gave me the name "The Toy Bulldog." I don't know why. Maybe because I looked like a bulldog with this pug nose of mine. He gave me that title, and it was one of the greatest titles ever hung on anybody in the ring. I was very thankful for it.
